Red Carpet Fashion

So silent film The Artist proved to be one of the winners at the 69th annual Golden Globes Awards, but there were also winners and losers on the red carpet. Kicking off the film awards season, The Golden Globes is THE first chance in the awards season for stars to shine and showcase their style credentials – and last night saw some truly stunning looks, with many opting for bright tones or ivory gowns.

We loved Angelina’s dress – adding her own unique style to the classic nude tone with flashes of scarlett. And the 40′s ruffle detail is bang on trend too.

Michelle Williams flew the flag for colour and neatly incorporated the velvet trend too…

To get the red carpet look on a more realistic budget, Coast – available at House of Fraser in Cabot Circus has some great show-stopping gowns like this ‘Savannah’ maxi dress, £195.

Monsoon also have some great styles, like this ‘Honeysuckle’ dress for £160. Glamorous yet won’t break the bank!

He’s back!

Gok Wan and his Channel 4 team will be bringing ’Gok’s Clothes Roadshow’ to Cabot Circus in September – he loved it so much in January that he’s coming back already! Last time thousands of shoppers came to show their support as he filmed the ‘high-street / designer catwalk face off’ and he was so impressed that he’s coming back for more.

As part of the new series, Gok is currently looking for a group of three women that feel that they are in need of a wardrobe re-vamp – you don’t have to be clueless about fashion, you might just be stuck in a rut or feel that you wear the same outfits all the time. If you fancy being made over by the nation’s favourite fashionista get in touch with the production team asap!

If you’re keen to be involved in the show but feel you’re already savvy in the style stakes, the team would also love to hear from you – they are looking for groups of six friends to become ‘road testers’ and put the latest trends to the test on the show.

Contact the production team asap for an application form on gokmakeover@endemoluk.com or call 0333 577 7776 if you fancy finding out more…

The show will be filmed at Cabot Circus on 7 September and everyone is invited to attend.

New stores for Cabot Circus

We’re delighted to welcome two new stores to Cabot Circus – firstly Pandora, which has just opened on Brigstowe Street (near Next) and the soon-to-be-open Mango, which will also be located on Brigstowe Street.

Pandora’s modular designs offer easily interchangable part and allow you to select charms, bracelets, necklaces or beads for a variable look - giving you a classic option or tailored to your own personal style.

Also coming soon is Mango, which like Zara is a Spanish fashion giant and a shop that we love. Until the store opens at the end of August, here’s an image from one of their recent campaigns…

MyStreetChic sets World Record at Cabot Circus!

At Cabot Circus, we were delighted to host an event to mark the launch of new street-style inspired website MyStreetChic.com recently, and even more pleased that the team managed to set the World Record for the highest number of topknot hairstyles in one day!

The MyStreetChic team made fashion history with a little help from our experts at Cabot Circus, with Robin James Salon stylists on hand to create the hair, alongside make up artists from Bobbi Brown (both brands are based at House of Fraser). Sanctuary Spa - based in Quakers Friars - also provided shoppers with mini manicures and feel-good treats to ensure they went away feeling glam and relaxed.

Cabot Circus Fashion Weekender

Cabot Circus will be stepping into the new season in style with a series of free catwalk shows celebrating the best of spring and summer on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 April.

Taking place in the centre of Cabot Circus under the glass roof, the catwalk shows will showcase the hottest trends from the new season collections, bringing together the best of the high-street and designer brands.

After a cold winter, it’s time to forget functional fashion as the new season will welcome the revival of colour in 2011 – pop and vibrant block colours were seen all over the catwalks and the look is set to be one of the key trends on the high street.

Vintage has been a key theme over the past few years and spring/summer will see 70’s glamour making fashion waves. Cabot Circus will show you how to create unstructured gypsy-like silhouettes and work shimmering fabrics, chunky heels, wide-leg trousers and figure-hugging waistbands, whatever your style or budget.

The Fashion Weekender will also celebrate the return of good old-fashioned glamour, nudes and muted tones and the rock-and-roll inspired ‘cool rider’ look.

Each show will be created by stylist JP, who has worked with a host of celebrities and recording artists and currently runs his own London-based fashion consultancy.

Visitors will also be able to seek out the latest hair and beauty trends with experts from Sanctuary Spa, Seanhanna and other beauty brands on-hand to give demonstrations and free taster sessions to shoppers.

Discounts of up to 20 per cent will also be on offer at many of Cabot Circus’ iconic fashion stores and restaurants over the course of the Fashion Weekender and all those attending will be invited to enter a competition to win £1,000 worth of fashion.

Cabot Circus retailers that will be featured in the Fashion Weekender include Harvey Nichols, House of Fraser, French Connection, Next, Monsoon, New Look, Reiss, Dorothy Perkins, River island, Ted Baker, Urban Outfitters, Warehouse and Zara. See you there!

Gok’s Roadshow – Cabot Circus episode on 1st March

As many of you will know, Gok brought his Channel 4 production team to Bristol at the end of January to film an episode of his new series ’Gok’s Roadshow’ in Cabot Circus, where he took on stylist Brix Smith-Start in the high-street versus designer face-off on the catwalk.

The Bristol episode will be aired next Tuesday (1 March) and we can’t wait to see Cabot Circus on the small screen!

As part of the new series, Gok is doing his best to help Britain’s style-starved women and in Bristol he met three lovely ladies – all mental health workers.

Avid cyclers, Becky (32), Tors (33) and Sarah (37) had ditched fashion in favour of bike helmets and high-visibility jackets but all three received a glamorous makeover from Gok and we can’t wait to see them strut their stuff on the catwalk on Tuesday…

The thousands of you that turned up on that freezing Friday night when he filmed will already know who won – Gok or Brix – however the rest of you will just have the wait until Tuesday!

Until then, here’s a clip of Gok in action working his magic to transform a simple nude dress into a show-stopping evening dress…

Gok’s Back!

Gok Wan loved Bristol so much in September he’s back – and this time he’s bringing his entire team with him! On Friday 28 January, we will be hosting Gok Wan’s Channel 4 programme, ‘Gok’s Roadshow’ at Cabot Circus.

As part of the new series, Gok is taking his catwalk show on the road in a bid to help Britain’s style-starved women. Gok will also take on fellow style expert and fashion foe, Brix Smith-Start, in the high street versus designer face-off. Models will be sent down the runway to show off different outfits chosen by Gok, championing the best of the high street, and by Brix, who favours exclusive designers, while members of the audience get to vote on their favourite.

Everyone is invited to this fashion first for Bristol – so don’t miss the catwalk finale outside of House of Fraser under the glass roof at 5pm on Friday 28 January.

January offers at Cabot Circus

According to experts, this week saw the most depressing day of the year – Blue Monday – when we’re all supposed to be feeling gloomy after the festivities of Christmas and New Year.

However there are plenty of amazing deals to be had at Cabot Circus at the moment that might just take some of the January misery away!

Harvey Nichols Restaurant is running its 2 for 1 dining offer again until 10 February – we’ve sampled this one ourselves and can testify to the yummyness. The promotions means that two people can enjoy a 3-course lunch or dinner for just £19.50.

Yo Sushi! is also offering 40% off all plates throughout January – download your voucher here:  http://www.yosushi.com/offers/40-percent-off-jan-sale

On top of this, both Caluccio’s and Tampopo are offering 2 for 1 on main courses and Gourmet Burger Kitchen have a ’buy one get one for £1′ on main courses – visit the Cabot Circus website to download vouchers.

Finally, the Robin James Aveda Spa - located on the ground floor of House of Fraser - is offering 50% of all treatments throughout January. The perfect excuse to treat yourself to some post Christmas pampering!

Garment Quarter

New independent boutique Garment Quarter is quickly making a name for itself as one of the cities hottest new stores, with the owners creating a fantastic new store for fashion-conscious Bristolians and a hugely welcoming atmosphere.

The store offers a fantastic mix of established designer brands and more up and coming labels, including Vivienne Westwood (Gold Label collection for men and Red Label ladieswear), Alexander McQueen, Markus Lupfer, Twenty8Twelve and JLS’ favorite ‘Unconditional’. Comme Des Garcons PLAY – worn by T4 presenter Alexa Chung – and celebrity label Melissa Shoes are also available exclusively in the city.

Since opening last month, the store has begun to generate waves in the fashion circle – see what some of the local blogging talent had to say:
